Facebook Feedback

Today I put the final music video on to Facebook using a sharing tool from YouTube, I was surprised and happy with the positive feedback i received from my peers of various ages and backgrounds. Below are some screenshots of their feedback and comments.

Propp's Theory

Research
Vladimir Propp was a Russian literature, he developed a 'character theory' for studying media texts and productions, he argues there are 7 main types of character (after his research on 100 tales), these characters had a 'narrative function'; a structure for the text that had the ability to be applied to many narratives.

The Hero – a character that seeks something

The Villain – who opposes or actively blocks the hero’s quest

The Donor – who provides an object with magical properties

The Dispatcher – who sends the hero on his/her quest via a message

The Helper – who aids the hero

The Princess – acts as the reward for the hero and the object of the villain’s plots

Her Father – who acts to reward the hero for his effort

I tried to apply these concepts to my music video narrative, obviously unable to recreate all 7, but I can clearly see in my music video 'the hero' and 'the princess' characters who are the focus of my video. After researching this is class I can connect the things I have learnt and apply it to my coursework production.

Titles

After feedbck from my audience, they highlighted that my titles were the weakest part to my music video production, so I decided to take their advice and work on my titles more. I used Adobe After Effects for the very first time today and was able to produce a title sequence I am proud of. Below are screenshots of how I done it and its application to Final Cut Pro as i edited it to the beginning.

Here I am editing the header or title, inserting my artists name into the easy to use website creator wix.com, before this I  chose an appropriate website template that I believed would suit my target audience that I described in previous blogger posts.

Here I am using a wix.com tool to input a song onto my website, I have chosen to add the song that I have created a music video for as it is his newest single, by uploading the mp3 file to the website it will be on my homepage and will play on loop. Also in the screen shot I have changed the background colour to gold this coincides with my other texts including the digipak which has a gold secondary colour.

Here I have begun to create my navigation bar, using the wix.com option 'Replace Skin' I have chosen one of the options, 'Shiny Down' as i believe this fits well with my website, below you will see how it has progressed.

Next thing I did was edit my website title or header font, using the wix.com font options, I changed the font to 'Edo'. The result is below.

The template website came with this logo in the top corner, I thought to make it my own by editing the effects and colour. As seen I added a glow effect, made this glow blue, one of my chosen colours that I discussed would be used in my website planning stage (previous posts).

After mastering the editing of words and images, I used a glow effect on the main header/title 'Plan B' then made it white as seen above, altered then the strength and blur of it.

The next thing i done was to start building up my website with conventional things, such as the competition button link, on my homepage is a red button advertising a promotion, above is the button I chose to use.
