Website Planning - Philosophy

1.   Website purpose

        i.     Promoting the artist to a wider audience and to existing fans, by making it attractive and accessible.

       ii.     Identifying artist style and persona through colour themes, fonts and images.

2.   Website audience

        i.     The users that would be on my website may include; fans of my artist, interested people (such as music critics, journalists, reviewers).

3.   Website marketing

       i.     There are several ways I aim to attract my audience.

·      Advertising – this will be my essential device to attract consumers to my artist, posters that show my artists new album release and his new video will be shown across London and England, online posters on websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Tumblr.

·      Word of mouth – using social network websites like Facebook, Twitter etc, to send links and information about new releases to friends and other fans, this creates a buzz around my artist.

·      Behind the scenes – Special video preview, a short clip of video in production will excite and invite fans, photos from video shoot also will interest fans and create an anticipation of what's to come.

Website Research Analysis

I have highlighted key features of websites that I have analysed as being key aspects to a website, and what kinds of things I'd want to create for mine such as; one font, title, pictures, links, navigation bars, 'community' etc.

Creating the 'Stokey Nation' Website

We was asked to first create a pretend website for the schools compilation CD called 'The Stokey Nation', it was meant to allow us to develop and become accustomed to the 'wix.com' features and capabilities, whilst understanding its strengths and limitations. Below are some screenshots and explanations of what I was able to do with a partner.


First thing was choosing a reasonable webpage layout, after this we began by adding the title of our webpage ('The Stokey Nation').

Next thing we thought of was changing the background to something more suitable, this we believed to be the actual CD cover that it a picture in a previous post.

Next, we added an introductory paragraph outlining what the website is about, then we added some affects in the way of sparkles that hover over the home page, this links in with some of ideas in the introductory paragraph "create stars of the future".

Next thing we done was screen shot some pictures from the schools actual website and pictures of Stoke Newington School students that are doing music related activites and put them onto a slideshow of pictures that appear on the homepage. To all of these things we added a transparency effect to make sure the background was still visible.

9th March, I did some last bits of filming in my school, of my main female charcater and will edit this in today.

Website Introduction & Planning

First thing we did was look at a website on "wix.com"

We looked at an actual website by 'Dean Waite', he came into our lesson and explained the ideas behind the different aspects of the website.
'I made the background white to make my illustrations more significant'.
